Smog keeps author Wendy Doniger away from Delhi
The 75-year-old suffers from asthma and won't come to Delhi to promote her book " The Hindus".

Indologist Wendy Doniger, whose book "The Hindus" raked up quite a controversy a couple of years ago, is back in the news. This time, it’s again for the same book, which got a new lease of life and was republished by independent publisher Speaking Tiger. However, the writer, who is a University of Chicago professor, will not be coming down to India for any promotion. Part of the reason is that Doniger suffers from asthma. “I couldn’t breathe the air in Delhi. So, it wouldn’t be a healthy place (for me) physically,” says the 75-year-old, who wishes to visit the hill stations like Shimla and Ooty instead.
