'Smell dating', the latest trend in matchmaking

'Smell dating' is a new matchmaking concept, where people choose their partners based solely on their body scent.

'Smell dating', the latest trend in matchmaking
Last week, a New York-based dating service came up with 'smell dating', a new matchmaking concept where they suited couples based solely on their body scent.

Unlike regular dating sites, where you need to make a personal profile, put up your best photographs and share your likes, dislikes and quirks, all you need to do here is submit your smelly, worn-in T-shirt!

Here's how it works:

- You need to wear a brand new T-shirt for three days, and avoid using any perfume that can affect your body's natural smell

- Once you've sent your T-shirt, you will receive a bunch of other shirts belonging to your potential suitor

- You need to give each garment a whiff and select your favourite-smelling item

The science behind the trend

The concept focuses on the link between body scent and sexual attraction, as studies have shown that we often love how certain people smell 'sexier', as their immune systems are different from ours.
