Actor Madhur Mittal, known for playing the parallel lead Salim in " Slumdog Millionaire" and Hollywood film "Million Dollar Arm", has been critically injured in an accident that occurred earlier this month.

Madhur was behind the wheel and accidentally rammed his car into a stationery truck at Dahisar, while he was attempting to overtake it.

Madhur was immediately rushed to the hospital by his friends, who were fortunate enough to escape unharmed. Madhur was in the ICU for about 15 days. He was unconscious for 10 days. And he also underwent multiple surgeries to mend his broken jaw, teeth, arm and clots in the brain. Now discharged, Madhur has been asked to rest for the next 2-3 months.

Struggling to speak and barely audible, he told us, "God has given me a second life. It was a narrow escape. I want to send out a message to the youth to wear seat belts, come what may. It could have saved me from what I went through. 70 per cent of my face has been damaged but the swelling will eventually reduce. I am not allowed to talk much either. Hopefully, I shall be fine by November, as I need to attend a workshop and a film festival in Mexico."

Dev Patel called up Madhur's family when he got to know about the mishap and Anil Kapoor also sent a message praying for his speedy recovery.
