Singer Prateek Kuhad announces he is 'single', confirms break-up with girlfriend Niharika Thakur

Fans are convinced this split would make the singer more creative.

Kuhad was dating Niharika Thakur, a doctor. Although he never spoke about his relationship to the media, the couple were known for their cute PDA on Instagram.

Singer-songwriter Prateek Kuhad who is known for his soulful romantic ballads such as ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’, ‘Cold/Mess’, and ‘Kasoor’ etc is now nursing his own heartache. Kuhad who was in a committed relationship recently parted ways with his long-time girlfriend Dr. Niharika Thakur. The singer has not revealed the reasons behind their breakup.

Many of his fans were sad for their idol and took to social media to provide emotional support to the singer. One fan uploaded the picture of the estranged couple on Twitter and wrote, “Now even Prateek Kuhad will listen to Arijit Singh.” (Singh is known for his melancholic tracks such as ‘Sun Raha Hai Na Tu’, ‘Ai Dil Hai Mushkil’ etc). Other fans speculated that this breakup may end up giving a boost to Kuhad’s creativity. “Aab jage ga Prateek Kuhad ka Arijit Singh,” (Now Prateek Kuhad will become like Arijit Singh) wrote another fan. The singer who is known to be a recluse had never spoken about his relationship to the media before, but the former couple were often spotted at events, holding hands, and were also fairly active on Instagram, where they posted cute lovey-dovey pictures.

However, in a recent interview with a leading English daily Kuhad opened up about his breakup. He confirmed that he was single, but declined to speak further. “No, I am not (in a relationship). I have not been really vocal about it for a while. Some people still think (I’m in a relationship), but I have not been in a relationship for a little while now. Things ended some time ago.”

The ‘Tum Jab Paas’ singer also added that he had immersed himself in work and is on the verge of moving on. “I am good. Have been really busy, lots of shows happening. I have just been making music,” he was quoted as saying to the daily.
