Silambarasan unveils Anbil Avan trailer: Ashok Selvan, Preity Mukundhan’s Tamil drama promises romance and action

Actor Ashok Selvan is returning to the big screens with his 23rd film, Anbil Avan. The movie, directed by R. Kaarthikeyan, also stars Preity Mukundhan as the female lead. The trailer for Anbil Avan, which is touted to be a romantic action drama, was unveiled by Tamil superstar Silambarasan. On September 17, Silambarasan shared the film’s poster on his X-handle alongside the gritty trailer, featuring a mix of love, emotions, and high-octane action. Anbil Avan is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 25.

Announcing Anbil Avan’s premiere date and trailer, Silambarasan wrote, ‘Happy to launch the trailer of Anbil Avan. Best wishes to Ashok Selvan and the entire team.’

The poster captures Preity Mukundhan leaning on Ashok’s shoulders, clasping his blood-coated hand, looking terrified. Meanwhile, Ashok holds a weapon in his hand, dripping with blood, as he stares menacingly into the camera. Behind the duo, a group of faceless men are seen holding more weapons.

Anbil Avan’s trailer and other details

Anbil Avan’s trailer opens to Ashok Selvan introducing himself as Surya and his wife as Iyal, played by Preity Mukundhan. The first half offers a glimpse of the couple’s sweet and loving relationship as they navigate the circumstances of their life together.

The second half, however, changes the narrative completely. The duo is seen facing a dangerous threat that prompts them to give their all in fighting back to escape an unsettling situation. Besides Ashol Selvan and Preity, Anbil Avan also stars Revathi, Sabumon Abdusamad, Kadirbalu, and Mahadevan Ganesh.

Anbil Avan is written by Vignesh Raja, with R. Kaarthikeyan and Ashok Selvan taking the credit for the screenplay. The film is jointly produced by K. Karunamoorthy, Ashok Selvan, and Abinaya Selvam, while the music is composed by Govind Vasantha. Meanwhile, Gowtham Rajendran has handled the cinematography, and editing is done by Selva RK.

Ashok Selvan was last seen in the Tamil gangster action drama Thug Life (2025). Some of his other major works include Oh My Kadavule (2021), Hostel (2023), Emakku Thozhil Romance (2024), Pon Ondru Kanden (2024) and Blue Star (2024).

On the other hand, Preity Mukundhan's latest film outings were Blast (2026) and Idhayam Murali (2026). She was also a part of Sarvam Maya (2025). Preity made her acting debut with Om Bheem Bush in 2024.
