Shloka & Akash Ambani welcome first child; picture of newborn with RIL boss goes viral

Shloka Mehta and Akash Ambani, on Thursday, welcomed their first child - a baby boy. "With the grace and blessings of Lord Krishna , Shloka and Akash Ambani became proud parents of a baby boy today in Mumbai," a statement from the family read.

Family sources confirmed that both mother and son are doing well. The new father married diamantaire Russell Mehta's daughter Shloka in early-March 2019.

The Ambani family is said to have returned to Mumbai just before Diwali last month after spending considerable time abroad.


Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, 63, and his wife Nita have three children - twins Akash and Isha, 29 years old, and Anant, 25.

The statement said that Sr Ambanis are delighted to become grandparents for the first time, as they welcomed the great grandson of Dhirubhai and Kokilaben Ambani.

"The new arrival has brought immense joy to the entire Mehta and Ambani families," said family sources.

Parimal Nathwani, Director-Corporate Affairs of RIL, took to Twitter to share the picture of Ambani with the newborn.


In May 2019, the RIL boss had acquired the 259-year-old iconic toymaker, Hamleys, from C.Banner International Holdings for around Rs 620 crore in cash.

A recent report had suggested that the Ambanis were declared twice as rich as the second wealthiest family in Asia.
