The viral clip claimed that Shilpa and her group, which included husband Raj Kundra, their children, her sister Shamita Shetty, mother Sunanda Shetty, and Raj’s parents, were involved in a dispute with a young foreign woman at a restaurant on Hvar Island.

According to the social media post that shared the video, the incident allegedly occurred on June 9. The user stated that the actress and her family were speaking loudly at the venue, which led the tourist to request them to lower their volume. The post further claimed that Raj Kundra responded by saying, “You don’t know who we are,” although that part of the interaction was not recorded.

Viral Video Sparks Online Debate

The short clip captures a visibly tense atmosphere outside the restaurant. In the footage, a voice is heard saying, “Don’t talk to us, we don’t want to hear you,” which many assumed to be Shilpa Shetty’s. However, some viewers argued it could have been her sister Shamita, as the video does not clearly identify the speaker.


The incident led to criticism online, with several users questioning the conduct of Indian celebrities abroad. One user wrote, “It doesn’t matter whether you are on foreign soil or Indian... you have to maintain some decorum.” Another added, “Being a star doesn’t give you the right to talk loudly in public. This is bad etiquette.”

Raj Kundra Clarifies What Really Happened

Amid mounting backlash, Raj Kundra addressed the situation in a statement to Hindustan Times. He clarified that the incident was not a spat with a tourist, but a fallout with the restaurant staff over a booking issue. He explained, “I had booked this particular restaurant a year in advance to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we were informed that our table had been given away to another group due to what they claimed was a 'double booking' error from the same agent.”

Expressing his frustration, he continued, “As someone who has also run restaurants, I found the handling of the situation deeply frustrating, especially with my elderly parents, mother-in-law and 20 guests left waiting. What was meant to be a special evening turned unnecessarily stressful, and when we raised our concerns, we were abruptly told to stay quiet, which only added to our disappointment.”

He concluded, “After a year of planning, the lack of accountability or even basic courtesy from the restaurant management was extremely disheartening. I hope this puts the situation into perspective.”

Despite Kundra’s clarification, questions remain over the identity of the voice in the video. While many assumed it was Shilpa Shetty, others pointed out it could be someone else from the group. The brief clip does not provide enough clarity, leaving room for speculation.

As of now, Shilpa Shetty has not released any statement regarding the incident.
