Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan tied the knot of love and togetherness with Sophie Shine. They broke the internet after sharing glimpses from their wedding festivities on Instagram. While fans were celebrating his new beginning, a section of social media took a different turn. Soon after his second marriage, several posts began circulating online, attributing controversial remarks about his former wife to the cricketer.

Shikhar Dhawan breaks silence on the viral post

One such viral claim suggested that Shikhar had said his ex-wife once told him that no one would marry him after she left, and that his remarriage was a fitting response to that comment. Now, he has firmly denied making any such statement. Addressing the issue directly on social media, the former opener clarified that the quotes being shared in his name were fabricated. He expressed disappointment over the way misinformation was being spread and urged people not to link him with statements he never made.

In his clarifications, he took to X (formerly called Twitter) and wrote, "I have come across some posts on social media attributing a disappointing statement about my personal life. I have never carried baggage from the past, be it on the pitch or outside. I firmly believe in the power of positivity while respecting my past."

The cricketer also made a strong appeal against clickbait culture. He requested that social media users and content creators not use his name to push false or insensitive narratives for attention.

"This is a new chapter in my life, and I feel truly grateful for the love and blessings I have received from my fans, friends, family, well-wishers and the media. I strongly urge people not to trade on my name with clickbait, insensitive and false statements on social media. Let’s spread love and positivity. Thank you!,"
