From sneaking out for ‘urgent dentist appointments’ to quietly answering interview calls in stairwells, job seekers constantly rush through packed schedules just to secure a better future. Recently, career coach Simon Ingari shared a post on his X handle capturing this exact struggle, recounting an incident involving an interviewee who proved how difficult it is to balance survival with career aspirations

An online interview comes with a lesson

As per the post, the woman made a strong first impression from the very beginning of the virtual interview. She was right on time, communicated clearly, and responded to every question with confidence and composure. Throughout the interaction, there was nothing to suggest that she was struggling, fumbling to answer, or under any unusual pressure.


Just before the interview concluded, however, the woman requested a brief pause. After receiving permission, she briefly switched off her camera and that’s when the interviewer heard the woman taking heavy breaths. When the woman returned, she apologised for the break and revealed that she had come directly from an overnight work shift without getting any sleep. Despite her exhaustion, she had chosen not to postpone the interview because she believed opportunities like these were too important to let slip away.
