Her aunt was eager to file an FIR against the perpetrators, but the police wanted concrete evidence. Her family then hatched a plan to fool the trafficker, seek her help to arrange a sham child marriage, and arrange for the police to catch them red-handed. But they needed a young girl for the plan to succeed.
The brave teen volunteered. “The next day I was made to sit in front of an old couple & a 30-year-old man. They looked at me from top to bottom & said, ‘Shaadi paki.’ They wanted to get married within 3 days. They gave Maa some money to prepare for the wedding & told the woman, ‘Apna hisab karte hai.’ Gussa bahut aaya.
Then on D-day, a make-up artist came to me & said, ‘Yeh hai nayi murgi?’ Darr lag raha tha. I was taken to the room, & a few seconds later, I heard someone say, ‘Dulhan ko bulao.’
When she reached the wedding venue, the police came and the culprits were arrested. The woman, who was the kingpin of the human trafficking ring, had ruined the lives of more than 300 girls.
The teen concluded her story by stating that she aims to become an IAS officer in the future so that she can help rescue girls who are victims of human trafficking.
