A Sudden Turn of Fate
Just as her career appeared unstoppable, the dawn of the new millennium altered her life dramatically. Shortly after the release of her Y2K album, Raageshwari was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy, a condition that caused paralysis on the left side of her face and affected her speech. The illness forced her into prolonged physical immobility, confining her largely to bed for nearly four years. The abrupt halt to her flourishing career was emotionally and physically devastating, yet it marked the beginning of an unexpected inner journey.Healing Through Yoga and Self-Reflection
Rather than surrendering to despair, Raageshwari sought healing through physiotherapy and yoga. Entering yoga classes while struggling with facial paralysis and shaken confidence was deeply challenging, especially in crowded halls filled with healthy practitioners. Over time, disciplined practice and guidance from strict teachers taught her that yoga was not about external perfection but inward awareness. She learned to confront her vulnerabilities honestly while also acknowledging her strengths, developing humility and resilience in the process.Inner Transformation and Reinvention
For Raageshwari, yoga evolved into a deeply introspective practice rather than a physical routine. While it restored her health, flexibility, and stamina, it also reshaped her outlook on life. Values such as acceptance, compassion, patience, and simplicity became central to her worldview. Supported by medical care and spiritual discipline, she gradually rebuilt her life and reinvented herself as a mindfulness and manifestation coach. Music remained close to her heart, and she continues to perform at select private and public events.Rooted Values and a Simple Life Abroad
Now based in London, Raageshwari remains strongly connected to India. She is a devoted mother to her daughter, Samaya, and ensures that her child visits India every year to absorb the country’s history, culture, literature, and artistic traditions. Despite financial comfort, she consciously embraces minimalism. Choosing to walk her daughter to school and rely on public transport, she avoids unnecessary luxury, viewing simplicity as a daily practice that brings calm, balance, and purpose to her life. The Economic Times Business News App for the Latest News in Business, Sensex, Stock Market Updates & More.
