Thapar recently opened up on struggles with infertility
Entrepreneur and investor Namita Thapar has once again chosen to speak candidly about a deeply personal phase of her life, using her voice not only to share her truth but also to spread awareness about fertility health. The prominent judge from Shark Tank India recently turned to social media to reflect on her experience with in vitro fertilisation (IVF), shedding light on the emotional strain it brings and the widespread lack of understanding surrounding reproductive health.

In her latest message, she spoke openly about enduring two unsuccessful IVF procedures, describing how such moments are filled with intense emotions, psychological distress, and a troubling mix of misinformation and lack of knowledge. She emphasised that there is an urgent need for better education, particularly in a country where a significant percentage of women suffer from iron deficiency. According to her, addressing such health concerns before attempting IVF is essential, yet often overlooked. Through her words, she highlighted not just her own struggle but also a larger issue—how limited awareness about basic medical preparation can impact fertility treatments.

She explained how low iron affects egg quality and quantity, sperms quality, motility, increases risk of miscarriage. As it also causes uterine wall thinning, it also impacts egg implantation. She ended the video by urging people to have their hemoglobin levels tested.

This is not the first occasion where Namita has addressed her journey. During the second season of Shark Tank India, she spoke about her personal experiences when entrepreneurs presented a home-based IUI solution designed to support couples dealing with infertility. She revealed that her first pregnancy at the age of 28 was smooth and without complications. However, when she later tried to expand her family, the process became far more challenging.

She underwent IVF treatment twice, which involved around 25 injections, describing the experience as both physically draining and emotionally taxing. After repeated setbacks, she eventually made peace with having one child. Yet, unexpectedly, she later conceived naturally, a turn of events she described as nothing short of extraordinary.

For years, she chose to keep this chapter private. It took nearly a decade for her to speak about it openly. Despite being advised by others to keep such matters personal, she followed her instincts and decided to share her story publicly, even documenting it in her book.

Today, her openness is playing a crucial role in breaking long-standing stigmas and encouraging honest conversations around fertility, offering comfort and awareness to many navigating similar journeys.
