Shi Liliang is a monk from the Quanzhou Shaolin Temple in China. He has been practising the amazing art of running on water for the past 10 years. And now he has set a world record by running on water for 125 metres. It’s something we’ve only seen in Kung Fu movies till now.

It’s a special Chinese martial art technique called the ‘Shuishangpiao’ (‘running on water’) in Chinese. The technique requires intense balance and concentration, not to mention agility and speed. He has broken his own old record when he ran across water for 118 metres.

Watching the video, the first thing you’ll think is that he is not running on water but running on thin boards placed on the water. Well, the boards are merely 1-cm thick (or thin) plywood planks floating on the surface of water that are not equipped to hold any weight. You or I would immediately sink were we to place our feet on those planks.
