Shane Warne's sudden demise leaves B-town shocked: Preity Zinta remembers happy times; Akshay Kumar & Ajay Devgn heartbroken

Legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne's sudden demise on Friday night at the age of 52 has left the whole world in shock. He passed away of a suspected heart attack.

Expressing grief over the demise of 'King Of Spin', Bollywood celebrities mourned the late cricketer's death on social media.

Calling him a 'magician on the field', actress-turned-businesswoman Preity Zinta took to Twitter to pen a note for Warne.


Indian Premier League team Punjab Kings owner recalled meeting him during the cricket league - sharing laughs and learning about cricket. She said he was a 'charismatic' and 'flamboyant' personality.

"So sad to hear that Shane Warne is no more... He was an inspiration to so many all over the world," she wrote.


Actor Akshay Kumar said he was 'speechless' to know about Warne’s untimely passing. He said that the late player made people fall in love with cricket. "You could not have loved the game of cricket without being in complete awe of the man. This is so heartbreaking," he wrote.


Actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra, who owns Rajasthan Royals with husband Raj Kundra, shared two pictures with the 'legend'. "Legends live on," she wrote.


The IPL team won the inaugural trophy in 2008 under Warne's captaincy at a time when it didn't have any big names in their line-up.

Actor Ajay Devgn said he was struggling to grapple with the news of Warne’s demise. "Your legacy is etched in the hearts of cricket lovers all over the world," he added.


Veteran actor Anil Kapoor said he was left in shock and disbelief.


National Award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee also couldn't wrap his head around this 'shocking' news.


Veteran star Anupam Kher said he was 'deeply shocked and saddened' to know about the unexpected demise of one of the greatest spin bowlers. He remembered Warne as 'magical on the field'.

Kher said that he once met him in a London hotel lobby. "He could really laugh easily. RIP dear legend. We will miss your brilliance," his tweet said.


Warne was one of the best leg-spinners to have embraced the game. He scalped 708 wickets in his illustrious career which spanned 145 Test matches.

Warne played 194 One Day Internationals for Australia in which he scalped 293 wickets. The right-hander was also handy with the bat as he scored 3,154 runs in his Test career. He amassed 1,018 runs in the 50-overs format.

The leg-spinner was known for his guile bowling and took a total of 1,001 wickets. He became the first-ever bowler to scale the peak of 1,000 international wickets.
