Actor Boman Irani once worked as a waiter
Today, he is one of the most respected actors in Bollywood, known for his impeccable comic timing and equal ease with dramatic roles. He has appeared in many iconic films such as Munnabhai MBBS, 3 Idiots, Main Hoon Na, Veer Zaara, etc. However, life wasn’t always so hunky dory for Boman Irani.

His father died just six months before he came into the world. He also suffered from dyslexia. After completing his secondary schooling, Boman decided to undergo a two-year waiter course at Mithibai College. As per a video shared by Storiyaan, he earned a meager Rs 105 per day during his stint as a waiter. He was 17 when he worked as a waiter at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. He also managed a small bakery along with his mother, Jerbanoo, where he prepared tea and fried wafers.

He later had a career in theatre and was trained by the thespian Alyque Padamsee. He did not land his first film role until he was 41. It was not until he appeared in Darna Mana Hai in 2003 that he gained recognition. Irani’s performance as a creepy restaurant owner who had unusual methods to stop people from smoking gained

appreciation. However, his breakthrough came with the comedy-drama Munna Bhai MBBS that same year. He was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Comic Role for his portrayal of J. Asthana. Later, he starred in Lage Raho Munna Bhai, its sequel, for which he was nominated for multiple IIFA awards. Additionally, he costarred with Aamir Khan in the comedy-drama 3 Idiots, which won him the Screen Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role and the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.

According to a Financial Express report, Boman's net worth is a staggering Rs 107 crore today.
