Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Jawan' may cross Rs 16 cr-mark at box-office as over 5.8 lakh tickets sell out for Day 1

The 'Jawan' mania is catching over four days before the highly-anticipated release.

If reports are to be believed, the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer will earn more than Rs 15 crore (gross) in India alone.

'Jawan' is expected to be SRK's second blockbuster after 'Pathaan' crossed Rs 1,000 crore globally earlier this year.


Film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan shared an update on the 'Jawan' Day 1 advance sales on Monday.

Taking to social media, the film critic said that more than 2.5 lakh were tickets sold at the national multiplexes, which has assured a box-office collection of Rs 15 crore (gross) in the domestic market.

Sharing the bifurcation of the national multiplexes, Manobala said that cinema theatre giant PVR sold 1,23,071 tickets so far, whereas, movie theatre chains INOX and Cinepolis have sold 84,268 and 44,515 tickets, respectively. The total tickets sold so far are 2,51,854 - which accounts for Rs 9.90 crore on the opening day.

However, across cinemas in India, the theatre owners have sold 5,80,800 tickets, amounting to a collection of Rs 16.07 crore (gross) on Day 1. The numbers exclude blocked seats.


Other film trade analysts Taran Adarsh and Sumit Kadel confirmed Manobala's claim that 'Jawan' sold 2.5 lakh tickets at national multiplexes. Kadel said that there’ll be a tsunami at the box office on the release day.



The advance booking for 'Jawan' commenced on September 1 and reportedly saw the sale of nearly 4 lakh ticket sales the same day, which was announced by the actor on X (formerly known as Twitter). Since then, the sales have only increased. The film has been touted as one of 2023's biggest pan-Indian releases and is expected to be a game-changer for Indian cinema.

Directed by Atlee, 'Jawan' also features Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Deepika Padukone (in a special appearance), Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Girija Oak, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Lehar Khan, Aaliyah Qureshi, Ridhi Dogra, and Sunil Grover. It is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and co-produced by Gaurav Verma.

'Jawan' will hit theatres on September 7.
