Mumbai: The Income-Tax department has provisionally attached Deja Vu Farms, a 19,960-squaremetre farmhouse at Alibaug near Mumbai that it said was a benami property of actor Shah Rukh Khan.

Last month, the department had issued a notice to Khan under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act.

Khan is alleged to have purchased the agricultural land for farming purposes, but instead constructed a luxury farmhouse there.

Under Maharashtra’s Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act, it is illegal to transfer agriculture land to non-agriculture users without taking the permission of either the district collector or the state government.

The farmhouse has a swimming pool, a beach as well as a private helipad.
