Seven stunning creations by Apple's latest designer Marc Newson

Apple's latest hire, industrial designer Marc Newson, is a longtime friend of Jony Ive's, head of its design team.

Like Ive, Newson is a prolific designer and there's a lot to be learnt about what he might do at Apple from looking at his past designs.

Here is a look at Newson's design portfolio:

1. Leica




Newson and Jony Ive collaborated on this special edition Leica. Like your iPhone, it, too, has little ornament and only a few buttons.

2. EarPods



Let's take a look at Newson's charity work. He and Jony Ive designed this take on Apple's EarPods for Bono's charity (RED).

3. Mac Pro



The two friends also worked together on this chrome red Mac Pro. Might we see more colour in future Apple products?


4. C​hampagne bottle case



Newson has a history of working with luxury brands. He designed this champagne bottle case for Dom Perignon in 2010. Should we expect new packaging from Apple in the next few years?


5. A floor of Hotel Puerta America


Newson designed the sixth floor of the Hotel Puerta America in Madrid.


6. Lockheed Lounge


This chair called 'Lockheed Lounge' is one of Newson's most famous designs. Is the trend of thinner and lighter consumer electronics coming to an end?

7. Ford concept



This Ford concept debuted at the 1999 Tokyo Motor Show. We don't expect a car from Apple anytime soon.
