The latest K-dramas of this week

The Judge Returns - MBC, January 2
Ji Sung makes a powerful comeback with The Judge Returns, a fantasy legal drama that brings time travel with moral conflict. He plays a corrupt judge who meets an untimely and unjust death, only to wake up ten years in the past. Given a second chance at life, the anti-hero decides to rewrite his fate by standing up against powerful wrongdoers. However, his mission is far from easy, especially when he crosses paths with an equally greedy and influential senior judge.

To My Beloved Thief - KBS, January 3
Romance meets rebellion in To My Beloved Thief, a fantasy sageuk with a playful twist. The story revolves around a noblewoman who secretly lives a double life as a righteous bandit, stealing from the rich to help the poor. Her world collides with that of a royal prince tasked with capturing her. Things take a wild turn when the two unexpectedly switch souls, forcing them to navigate each other’s lives while battling duty, identity and forbidden feelings. Starring Nam Ji Hyun and Moon Sang Min, the series offers humour, heart and old-school charm.

As Nice to Not Meet You heads into its final episodes, the rom-com leaves viewers with plenty of laughs and emotional moments. The series follows a veteran actor stuck playing the same iconic detective role for years, despite his dream of becoming a romantic lead. His life spirals into chaos after he gets involved with a strict journalist who secretly happens to be his biggest fan. Featuring Lee Jung Jae and Lim Ji Yeon’s first on-screen pairing, the show brings celebrity satire with an unconventional love story.

I DOL I - Netflix, Viki
I DOL I taps into the world of fandom and fame through a gripping legal romance. The drama centres on a star defence lawyer who also happens to be a devoted fangirl. Her two worlds collide when she is assigned to defend her favourite K-pop idol, who is accused of murder. As she digs deeper into the case, unsettling truths begin to surface, forcing her to question everything she believes. With Sooyoung and Kim Jae Young leading the cast, episodes 3 and 4 were released on December 29-30

Made in Korea - Disney+ Hotstar
Hyun Bin returns to the small screen in style with Made in Korea, a gritty political thriller set in the 1970s. The series follows a ruthless mastermind who treats the country as his personal business model, and a determined prosecutor willing to sacrifice everything to stop him. Episodes 3 and 4 were released on December 30.

Pro Bono
Rounding off the list is Pro Bono, a legal comedy-drama starring Jung Kyung Ho. The show tracks the transformation of a self-centred “star” judge who dreams only of wealth and status. His outlook changes when he is assigned to an overlooked pro bono legal team that brings no profit but plenty of life lessons. With each case, he slowly learns empathy, humility and the true meaning of justice, making this drama both entertaining and heartfelt. Episode 9 on January 3 and Episode 10 on January 4
