Sent it by mistake? WhatsApp’s new feature may let you edit text messages

Text messages keep us connected on the go. From SMS to WhatsApp and similar text messaging applications, texting has changed the way we communicate.

Even though messages have eased our lives in countless ways, there have been moments when one simply wished the messaging could have been better. It would be a boon for many if text messages could be rectified after they are sent.

One of the world’s most widely used messaging applications, WhatsApp, may soon be on its way to introducing something that has never been done before by any platform.


WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature that could potentially let users edit their text messages. The feature is being tested as a future update for WhatsApp beta for Android, iOS and desktop according to WAbetainfo.

The platform is currently working on offering more messaging features for its users. After introducing the message reactions feature, now it seems that the application is directing its efforts toward letting users edit their text messages for future updates. In fact, WABetaInfo announced a similar feature for WhatsApp some five years ago.

If this feature is introduced, users would be able to rectify typos in their messages without deleting them entirely. This will save time as they will not be required to write a new message.

Besides, the application has also started testing skin tones for message reactions. At present, the new addition to message reaction is part of the WhatsApp for Android beta version, the new skin tones may be rolled out to the masses after the completion of the beta testing.
