Security guard has become viral sensation for his singing talent. But he doesn’t seek financial aid: ‘Just help me…'

A security guard has gone viral on Instagram – not for being a startup owner in secret or for demanding financial aid, but just for wanting to have students. In a video shared by the positivity portal The Better India, one Shovan Chakraborty, a security guard, revealed that he once spent his days teaching Rabindra Sangeet to students.

A music connoisseur, Mr Chakraborty received postgraduate degrees in three fields, focused his life on teaching, and studied music at Visva-Bharati University.

Then, one by one, the pandemic claimed his pupils.


He accepted a job as a security guard in order to put food on the table. The worst part wasn't losing his job, though. It was witnessing people lose faith in him. Shovan had to work as a security guard to support his family and an ailing mother. Yet, one thing he wants above all is to return to teaching music.

In the video, Shobhan said that he didn’t want financial aid, just students eager to learn music.

"I don't need financial help. I just want to teach again. If you can help me find students, that would be the greatest support I could ask for,” he said.

The video went viral on social media, receiving over 76K likes on Instagram. Many were in awe of his singing talent. One commenter urged Shobhan to post clips of his singing on YouTube. "He can go to YouTube and start teaching music online. This can also help him get students beyond the Indian border who desire to learn music." read the comment.

Another admirer of his voice wrote, "His voice is so pure and authentic … it reminds me of the music teachers I had. There are so many people wanting to learn music…he needs to advertise everywhere possible. I am sure he will land with a huge group of students.”
