Scottish influencer claims Goa nightclub let foreign tourists for free while Indians had to wait in queue

A man of Scottish-Korean heritage has leveled accusations against a popular nightclub in Goa, India, alleging that the establishment favors international patrons over local clientele. The controversy erupted after the man posted a video online that rapidly gained traction across various social media platforms.

In the circulating video clip, originally shared on Instagram by a user named Ryan Williams, brief segments capture the nightclub’s apparent preferential treatment. The footage reveals that non-residents are admitted within moments of arrival, whereas local Indians are forced to endure a lengthy wait outside the venue. This observation prompted Williams to label the establishment a “Racist nightclub in Goa” in his caption, emphasizing his belief that discriminatory practices were at play.

According to Williams, he and his friend, Robin Alderslowe, were granted complimentary entry to the club. Alderslowe, known for his work as a filmmaker and for his role as a bagpiper, is featured in the video adorned in traditional Scottish attire and playing the bagpipes inside the club. Their experience, as documented in the video, starkly contrasts with the experience of local patrons, who are depicted queuing patiently, only to be repeatedly turned away or made to wait while foreigners breeze past them.



Williams explains in the clip, “They let us get in for free because we are foreigners, but then they (locals) have to wait,” directly addressing what he perceives as an unfair and racially motivated admission policy. This allegation of preferential treatment has sparked a heated debate online, with the video attracting widespread attention and eliciting a variety of responses from social media users.

Many viewers expressed their dismay and irritation in the comment sections, with some remarking on the systemic issue of prioritizing foreigners over local citizens. One commentator stated, “Asians love treating foreigners better than locals,” while another added, “It's really sad that this problem isn't just limited to India, but happens in other places too. A few bad apples are giving the many, respectful Indians a bad name.” These responses reflect a broader frustration with practices perceived as inequitable and discriminatory.

In contrast, a few users offered an alternative explanation, arguing that the nightclub’s decision might be driven by business considerations. One such comment suggested, “Simple reason, every club wants more business. Tourists in Goa are a mix of both lavish spenders and broke visitors. Fancy clubs prefer people who could spend a few thousand in the club, so they filter the crowd coming in based on the way they dress and behave. Not all foreigners are allowed in a club for free. Only whites are allowed because a few whites in a brown country party adds to the glamour.”

As of now, neither the nightclub’s management nor local authorities have issued any formal response to these serious allegations, leaving the controversy unresolved and continuing to fuel online debate about discrimination and business practices in the hospitality industry.
