The crime comedy, directed by Jithu Madhavan, has also given the actor his third successful film of the year. Interestingly, each of these releases belongs to a different genre and has been helmed by a different filmmaker.

How did Suriya create a hat-trick in a row?

Suriya began the year with Karuppu, which went on to become the highest-grossing film of his career. The film opened with Rs 15.50 crore net in India, including Rs 13.10 crore from its Tamil version and Rs 2.40 crore from the Telugu version. Its worldwide opening stood at Rs 28.93 crore. It eventually crossed Rs 310 crore worldwide.

His second release, Vishwanath and Sons, also had a strong run at the box office. The film collected Rs 15.35 crore net in India on its opening day, with the Tamil version contributing Rs 9.15 crore and the Telugu version adding Rs 6.20 crore. Its worldwide opening collection stood at Rs 31.74 crore. The film later crossed Rs 200 crore globally.

With Scene, Suriya has now delivered three successful films in a single year. The actor's box office performance is also a major turnaround, especially after questions were raised about his theatrical appeal in 2024.

The film's box office performance is worth noting as it arrived amid competition from two other releases. Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, had opened a day earlier on November 5. Meanwhile, Nayanthara's Mookuthi Amman 2, directed by Sundar C, released on the same day as Scene, giving it competition for Tamil-language screens.

Directed by Jithu Madhavan in his Tamil debut, Scene features Suriya as DSP Inbaraj. The cast also includes Naslen as Eswaran, Nazriya Nazim as Maya, along with Anandraj, Lal, John Vijay and Rajpriyan in supporting roles.
