Sax, Satyagraha and an epilogue at NCPA in Mumbai
Several culture - inclined Mumbaikars went to the NCPA last weekend for a musical play on Mahatma Gandhi (and hazelnut cold coffee at the venue’s old-fashioned cafeteria). The production features Indian and international musical genres. And it treats the subject of Gandhi in a peppy and contemporary way.

The final scenes, however, tug the heart. Maybe that is why Khushroo Suntook, the NCPA chairman, found it hard to speak at the curtain call. “I didn’t know I would be speaking after Mahatma Gandhi,” he said, before making a short speech. In the belligerent political climate of today, sensible Indians would rather leave the last word to Gandhi.
