Save Aarey group launches 'gift-a-tree' plan in Mumbai

The Save Aarey group, a conservation initiative, on Sunday launched its tree plantation programme ­ Gift a tree, under which over 10,000 trees will be planted in the Aarey colony . The announcement was part of the Aarey Green Films Festival 2015, which was held in the city on Sunday .

"We have already planted 500 trees and plan to achieve the target of 10,000 trees and we will try to do it during monsoon. ," said Manish Gadia, co-organiser of the festival.

On Sunday , over 500 people attended film screenings, lectures, nature trails and exhibits."We had so many enquiries and the venue was full throughout the sessions. This overwhelming response is proof that there is awareness and people understand the need to protect our open spaces," said Gadia.
