Sandbox Collective gets acclaimed artists to conduct summer workshops in Bengaluru
BENGALURU: Sandbox, a city-based artists' collective, announced a series of curated summer workshops to be conducted by internationally-acclaimed artists who have worked with children in India and abroad. Called 'ArtReach', it is organised as part of the collective's Arts in Education programme and is meant for children between 8 and 13 year old children.

"We were very clear that we wanted performance art related workshops and not hobby or craft-based ones as Sandbox Collective works with artists in theatre, music, dance and performing arts, both Indian and international," said Vandana Prabhu, who handles the Arts in Education programme.

ArtReach, in its second year, will be conducted between April 22 and 30. Magazine-making, scenography and pop-up art is also included in the mix of events. Pavithra Reddy and Rohini Raghunandan will be conducting dance and music sessions respectively. Vidya Mani will take charge of magazine making Sujay Saple of theate, Tsohil Bhatia will teach scenography while Sadhvi Jawa will take children through the world of pop-up art.

Theatre, music and dance remain most popular. "Most of these activities help break inhibitions and helps children work together as a team," said Prabhu. "It's easy to see new-found confidence in children who engage in the arts. That makes these activities popular with parents too." Seats are limited to 24, available on first come, first serve basis.
