Sanchita Ugale's father alleges she was being 'harassed'. Close friend makes shocking claims against Kumkum Bhagya actress' co-star Ujjwal Sharma

The television industry is still reeling from the sudden death of actress Sanchita Ugale. Best known for her role in Kumkum Bhagya, the 22-year-old actress was found dead at her residence in Nalasopara, Maharashtra, on June 14. As police continue their investigation into the case, statements from her family and close friends have raised questions about the emotional struggles she may have been facing in the months leading up to her death.

Father says Sanchita was struggling emotionally

A day after the tragedy, Sanchita's father, Machhindra Ugale, spoke about his daughter's mental state in an interview with NDTV. According to him, the actress often appeared upset and emotionally disturbed, although she never clearly explained what was troubling her.

He said that even during moments when she seemed cheerful, she would suddenly become withdrawn and depressed. The family had reportedly noticed these changes and tried to spend as much time with her as possible. However, they did not realise the extent of her emotional distress.


Machhindra futher added that, "We had noticed this, which is why we used to accompany her daily. It was just that brief time - hardly half an hour when we were not with her - you can consider that our mistake. But we did not know she had gone into such deep depression that she would take such a step."

Allegations of harassment

Sanchita's father also made serious allegations about the pressures his daughter was facing. He claimed that she had been subjected to constant harassment and mental stress by certain individuals.

According to him, people were allegedly troubling her over financial matters and other issues. While he did not name anyone, he said he was convinced that she was under pressure and hoped the truth would emerge through the investigation.

He urged authorities to thoroughly examine the case and ensure justice for his daughter. He added that every daughter in the country deserves protection and fair treatment, not just his own child.

Friend claims actress faced problems on set

Meanwhile, actress Indraxi Kanjilal, who described herself as a close friend of Sanchita, made several allegations during an interview with TOI

Indraxi said she first met Sanchita during a mock shoot and the two quickly became friends. According to her, Sanchita was initially excited about working on the television show Saajan Ghar. However, things reportedly changed over time.

The actress alleged that Sanchita had confided in her about experiencing mental harassment from her co-star Ujjwal Sharma. Indraxi claimed that Sanchita had shown her screenshots and videos related to the matter and had even informed the show's director. According to Indraxi, no action was taken despite her complaints.

Claims involving money dispute

Indraxi further alleged that tensions between Sanchita and Ujjwal Sharma began after a financial disagreement. She claimed that Sanchita had lent money to her co-star and later faced unpleasant treatment when she asked for it back.

According to Indraxi, the alleged bullying and conflicts affected Sanchita's emotional well-being and contributed to anxiety and depression. She said, "Sanchita didn't want to leave the show but she had to because of all that bullying and harassment. The whole thing started when her co-actor (Ujwal) borrowed money from her but didn't pay back the lent money. Instead of returning the money he scolded and insulted her, and even threatened to hit her. The bullying got so bad that her health started deteriorating, she had depression and anxiety as well."

The actress also criticised comments reportedly made about Sanchita's personal life, saying that people should focus on what she allegedly experienced rather than speculate about unrelated matters.

Police officials have confirmed that an Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered. The exact reason behind Sanchita's death has not yet been determined.

Authorities have stated that investigations are ongoing and that all angles are being examined. As of now, no official link has been established between the allegations made by family members and friends and the actress's death.

Ujjwal Sharma has not publicly responded to the allegations. Reports state that attempts were made to contact him for comment, but no response was received at the time of publication.
