In the wake of the tragedy, actress Girija Oak Godbole spoke about the challenges and systemic issues that often exist behind the glamour of the industry. Sharing her perspective, she reflected on the hardships, vulnerabilities, and power imbalances that many aspiring performers may encounter while trying to build a career in the field, bringing renewed attention to concerns that are often overlooked.
In a chat with NDTV, Godbole stated: “It is extremely unfortunate when something like this happens. I do understand and acknowledge the concern that comes in when something like this happens. The kind of things that are said — are we waiting for something bad to happen for us to make corrections? That's absolutely not right. Things need to change. Corrections need to be made while we can still save a life."
The actress also said that she came across both good and “horrible people” and it is important to find your tribe. "I am more worried about people who come in from outside, who don't have family here, who don't have friends here to begin with. I sincerely hope that I can do something more about this," she said.
Sanchita died by suicide on June 14 at her residence in Sai Santoshi Building in Aachole Village, Nalasopara East.. As per reports, she was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her bedroom. The police are still investigating reasons behind her suicide.
Ugale rose to fame for playing the character of Diya Tandon in the popular sitcom Kumkum Bhagya. She was also seen in soaps such as Diwali Dulha Le Jayegi, Wagle Ki Duniya.
