Samsung may launch Galaxy Alpha on September 27
NEW DELHI: Korean smartphone maker Samsung is likely to expand its high-end smartphone range with the introduction of the Galaxy Alpha on September 27, ahead of Apple’s much awaited iPhone 6 launch in the country.

The company is hosting an event in New Delhi on September 27, where it will unveil a smartphone it describes as the “Next Generation Stylephone.” The press invite, however, doesn’t specify the model name, but is most likely to be the Galaxy Alpha, which is a 'metal body' device, a person familiar with the matter said.

The price of Galaxy Alpha is around $897 in the UK market. Samsung is expected to price this device over Rs 45,000 in India.

The Galaxy Alpha features a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD 720p display and is powered by an Exynos 5 Octa 5430 processor (1.8GHz quad-core Cortex A51 + 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex A7) paired with 2GB of RAM.

On the camera front, it features a 12-megapixel rear camera, and 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. The device comes with 32GB internal storage and a 1,860mAh battery.

The Galaxy Alpha uses a frame made of aluminium alloy, while the back cover is still made of plastic. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat wrapped under TouchWiz UI.
