NEW DELHI: Samsung Galaxy intends to expand its leadership position in the premium segment, with launch of the Galaxy Note 7 priced at Rs 59,900.

The device which will be available for pre-bookings from August 22 till August 30, will come with three months of free voice and data services from Reliance Jio.

"We believe Note series will help us consolidate our share in the premium segment (Rs 30,000 upwards)," said Manu Sharma, Vice President-Mobile Business for Samsung India.



Samsung competes closely with rival Apple in the premium segment, which is almost divided between the two companies. As of June end, the South Korean smartphone maker lead the segment with 54.1% share, by value, Sharma said.

The Note 7 sales will begin on September 2 in online and offline markets, within a month of its launch in the US, that happened last week. The latest phablet comes bundled with Gear VR headset priced at Rs 1990.

The VR headset will be independently sold from first week of September at Rs 7,290.

Samsung also launched the GearFit2 wearable priced at Rs 13,990 that will go on sale from the month end. It also launched Gear Icon X, Bluetooth connected wirefree earphones for Rs 13,490, which will go on sale at the same time.

The folder, as per the company, adds an extra layer of security keeping the user’s private and personal information safe. The Secure folder can store personal documents like instance passport copy, contracts and more.
