Samsung expands foldable lineup with Galaxy Z Fold8, Fold8 Ultra and Flip8 - bets bigger on AI-driven experiences. Learn the price and specs here

London: Samsung has unveiled its latest generation of foldable smartphones, introducing three devices instead of the traditional two. Alongside the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8, the company has also launched the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, a premium foldable aimed at users looking for larger screens and productivity-focused features.

The expanded lineup reflects Samsung's attempt to cater to different segments of the foldable market as competition in the category continues to increase. The company is positioning AI as a core part of the experience across all three devices, with software features designed around each form factor.
Galaxy Z Fold8


The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 introduces a wider 4:3 inner display, marking a notable shift from Samsung's previous foldable design philosophy. The company says the new aspect ratio is intended to improve reading, gaming and video consumption while making the cover display feel more familiar for everyday smartphone use.

The device weighs 201 grams, making it Samsung's lightest book-style foldable to date. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset and packs a 4,800mAh battery. Samsung has also introduced a new titanium-based internal display structure, branded as Flex Titanium, which is designed to improve durability while reducing crease visibility. The main display now reaches up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness.

For imaging, the Fold8 features dual 50MP rear cameras, dual recording for simultaneous front-and-rear capture, and My FanCam, which automatically tracks subjects and reframes footage for social media-ready videos.
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra becomes Samsung's flagship foldable, focusing on productivity and content creation. It features an 8-inch main display while retaining a slimmer profile, measuring 4.1mm when unfolded and weighing 215 grams.

The biggest hardware upgrade comes with its camera system. The Fold8 Ultra includes a 200MP primary sensor with HDR support, a new 50MP ultrawide camera, improved Nightography capabilities, and support for 8K video recording using Samsung's APV codec. Cine LUT support has also been added for users looking to edit footage directly on the device.

Under the hood, the device runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, paired with a 5,000mAh battery, 45W fast charging and an upgraded graphite cooling system aimed at maintaining performance during intensive workloads.

Galaxy Z Flip8

Samsung has also refreshed its clamshell foldable with the Galaxy Z Flip8, which weighs 180 grams and measures 6.1mm when unfolded, making it the company's slimmest Flip device so far.

The biggest changes come to the FlexWindow, which now serves as an AI-first interface capable of displaying contextual information, app shortcuts and automation features without opening the device. Users can also access Gemini Intelligence directly from the cover display for supported tasks.

Camera upgrades include a 50MP sensor powered by Samsung's ProVisual Engine, alongside Flex Mode shooting, Camcorder Grip controls, improved Super Steady stabilisation and new selfie-focused features such as FlipShot and Mirror View.

AI features across the lineup

Artificial intelligence remains a central theme across Samsung's latest foldables. The company has expanded features such as Now Brief and introduced Now Nudge, which surfaces contextual actions based on conversations. Gemini Intelligence can now work across more than 40 supported apps and services, while Gemini Notebook allows users to organise notes, documents, recordings and images in a persistent workspace with AI-generated summaries, reports and other outputs.

Security and availability

Samsung says the new foldables continue to rely on Samsung Knox for device security while introducing an AI Assistant Activity dashboard that allows users to review AI actions performed on their behalf. Enhanced privacy alerts have also been added to identify potential permission-related risks.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 are available for pre-orders starting today in select markets. Samsung is also bundling a six-month Google AI Pro subscription with eligible purchases and has updated Smart Switch to simplify migration from Android and iPhone devices.
