The chartered accountant told ET Panache, "Europe has always been a very fascinating destination for me. I have been visiting the UK and other Balkan countries every year for some time now. This year, too, I was in the UK and visited western Europe including the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, etc, and other Balkan countries in the last quarter of 2019 for about three weeks."
Travel had always been an interesting experience for Mittal. He explained that travel not only helps him learns about diverse cultures, but also about different ideologies. "The styles of trade and commerce, how the expectations of people vary with the change in demographics is also a learning. I have always appreciated the undaunted spirit that these guys have along with the empathy for the most trivial problems. The amount of thinking, they give to the tiniest details, is indeed inspiring and binds people together," he explained.

Reading and travel are synonymous for the Managing Partner of Sameer Mittal and Associates. He has a to-read wishlist, and every time he travels, few of the boxes get ticked. "One of my favourites is 'Rich Dad’s Cashflow Quadrant' by Robert T Kiyosaki as it gives an insight by having ‘my money work for me rather than the work for my money’. Biggest take away from the book was to move from the left side of the quadrant 'E’s (employee) and and S’s (Sole Proprietor)' to right side of the quadrant 'B’s (Business Owner) and I’s (Investor)'. One should learn to delegate work to others, invest in people, and let them work to make money for you," he shared.
The last book that Mittal read was 'Ikigai: Japanese secret to Long and Happy Life' by Hector Garcia and Albert Liebermann. He said, "The book give an insight into finding my Ikigai - a reason to jump out of bed each morning. Its golden rules of always staying active, not retiring, leaving urgency behind and having a slower pace, having friends around, and reconnecting with nature are very inspiring, and takes you back to basics. These seem to have been somehow left far behind in the rat race, but they continue to be the main reason for a long and happy life. Best takeaway was ‘the happiness of always being busy’."

Both his hobbies have taught him some life lessons. "Never leave your passion. However, find the practical balance between your passion, needs and dreams, and have faith," he ended.
