'Salaar' box-office: Prabhas-starrer dethrones 'Jawan', 'Animal' to become 2023's biggest opener, collects Rs 95 cr on Day 1

Prabhas' latest movie, 'Salaar: Part One- Ceasefire,' directed by Prashanth Neel, has taken the box office by storm, becoming the biggest opener of 2023.

The mass action film, featuring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Shruti Haasan in pivotal roles, shattered the first-day collections of major releases like 'Animal,' 'Jawan,' and 'Pathaan.'

Record-Breaking Collection

After the setback of Prabhas starrer 'Adipurush,' fans eagerly awaited the release of 'Salaar,' and their anticipation was met with resounding success. Estimates from Sacnik.com indicate that the film earned an impressive Rs 95 crore on its opening day, asserting its dominance in the domestic market.


The film's stronghold was particularly evident in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where it amassed a staggering Rs 70 crore, showcasing an overall occupancy of 88.93 per cent in Telugu regions. Additionally, 'Salaar' performed commendably in Karnataka and Kerala, raking in Rs 12 crore and Rs 5 crore, respectively, on its opening day.

Trade expert Manobala Vijayabalan highlights the global triumph of 'Salaar,' stating, "BIGGEST WW opening of the year 2023 belongs to #Salaar. #SalaarCeaseFire exceeds all early estimates and now heading above Rs 175 crore."


The film's success is not limited to the Indian market alone, as it secured the second position in the top 5 premieres gross for Indian movies in the USA and North America, earning $2.60 million.

About 'Salaar'

'Salaar' marks a significant comeback for Prabhas, surpassing the first-day collections of his previous releases like 'Adipurush' and 'Radhe Shyam.'

Director Prashanth Neel, known for the KGF films, adds another feather to his cap with this remarkable box office opening.

'Salaar' is set to captivate audiences in two parts, with the first instalment titled 'Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire' and the second part titled 'Shouryaanga Parvam.'

The film's unique narrative, centred around the friendship-turned-rivalry of characters Deva and Vardha, played by Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, adds depth to the mass action genre.
