Sajjan Jindal conferred with honorary degree

It may not have been the traditional square black cap affair, but Sajjan Jindal did have a graduation ceremony of sorts on March 31. The Vijayanagar Sri Krishnadevaraya University in Ballari conferred an honorary degree on the Chairman of the JSW Group, as well as SM Shivaprasad, senior scientist at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Research in Bengaluru, for their contribution in their respective fields. Governor Vajubhai Vala, who is also the Chancellor, conferred the degree.

Keshav Reddy, son of GVK Group's Sanjay Reddy, was quick to offer his congratulations, but with a cheeky aside. "Congratulations on the doctorate @sajjanjindal59 uncle! @ ParthJindal11, uncle beat you to a graduate degree," Keshav Reddy tweeted, along with a smiley face. If you remember, Parth is still finishing up his MBA degree at Harvard, so the convocation there is a while away. He sportingly retweeted Reddy's comment, while his own was an emotional tribute: "What an inspiration my father is – the man who built India's largest steel company is also now a Dr – congratulations @ saj janjindal59." We agree.
