NEW DELHI: This year's Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations are all about eco-friendly idols and being surrounded with limited number of people.

Several celebrities, who celebrate with festival with fervour, accepted the new normal and urged people to maintain social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar shared a glimpse of Ganesh Chaturthi celebration with near and dear ones on a Zoom video call. Dressed in festive colours, the Tendulkars offered prayers to the idol.




Kareena Kapoor Khan took to Instagram to share photos of her son Taimur praying in front of a Lego Ganesha that he made.

While Riteish Deshmukh and his sons made eco-friendly Ganesh idol, actress Shraddha Kapoor posed with an environmentally-friendly 'Vighnaharta' idol.

Recalling last year, Madhuri Dixit-Nene said that the celebrations are going to be a little different this year because of the pandemic.

Other Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, Kajol and Ajay Devgn, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Hema Malini, Rajkummar Rao, Kunal Kemmu, Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Dia Mirza, Sonu Sood, and Neil Nitin Mukesh among others on Saturday sent their best wishes to fellow countrymen on the beginning of the ten-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

Also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi marks the birth of Lord Ganesha.

It begins on the fourth day (chaturthi) of the month of Bhadrapada, the sixth month of the Hindu calendar. It concludes after 10 days on the day of Anant Chaturdashi, when the idol is submerged in the nearest body of water.

Lord Ganesh is considered an embodiment of wisdom and widely revered as the remover of obstacles.
