LONDON: Stand-up comedian Russell Brand's cell phone was stolen during his latest visit to India.

The 40-year-old "Get Him to the Greek" star was in India to perform his stand-up show for the Comedy Central Chuckles Festival in cities Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore.

During his visit to the slums, where he went to meet the underprivileged residents, his cell phone was stolen from the pocket of his trousers, reported Contactmusic.

Brand posted a video on Instagram, describing the incident.

"In the mad free-for-all, one of them nicked (stole) my phone, I didn't even notice it happen. Someone explained, 'Oh, your phone's been nicked', then another kid bought (sic) it back.

"I went to try and give him money and stuff and he looked at me as if it meant nothing, like, the money. That kid was living by a higher code," wrote Brand.
