Russell Brand addresses the issue of sweatshops
Russell Brand is known for comedy, but it's not all fun and games for the British actor, radio host and activist. The notorious ladies man was back in India (after his 2010 doomed wedding to Katy Perry) to perform at Comedy Central Chuckle Festival and addressed the issue of sweatshops straight on.

Brand was accused of claiming that shirts of his online show The Trews were produced in the UK when they were, in fact, made in Bangladeshi sweatshops. "One size we found out is made in Bangladesh and this has given us a keen interest in sweatshop conditions," Brand told ETPanache.

"We are now working to make sure that the people in that particular sweatshop are paid fairly and we're, of course, not getting any more sweatshirts made there. But those people need work, so it's a bigger problem. We found out that almost any big company you can think of uses Indian or Bangladeshi sweatshop labour. It's a massive problem of our time, but the media likes to pinpoint individuals to persecute."

And on the subject of love, considering his famous exes Perry and Jemima Khan, Brand had this to say about how a humourless man could win with women: "You shouldn't think of women as competition." Copy that.
