Rugby coach Mike Friday's 30th birthday gift to himself: A hip watch to feel young

Coaching a grunting pack of rugby players everyday is no mean feat and that leaves American Rugby Sevens coach Mike Friday with little time on his hands. And while he may not have enough hours in a day, the two luxury watches he owns are timeless.

Speaking to ETPanache recently, Friday said he has two favourite watches that he uses alternately as they both represent milestones in his life. The 45-year-old coach got one for his 40th birthday while the other was when he retired from playing rugby.

“I chose a luxury watch as a treat for myself when I turned 40. It is a mature man’s watch, much like me now. I bought the other one a long time ago, when I retired, at the age of 30. It is a young, hip timepiece which I bought since I was trying to hold on to my youth then,” Friday said.
