Rs 60,000 investment became Rs 25 crore: How a man is generating Rs 14.5 lakh monthly income without even working daily
A story shared by Swapnil Kommawar on social media has gone viral after revealing how a small land investment made decades ago reportedly turned into a huge financial gain. According to the post, his uncle bought four acres of land in 1990 for ₹60...

The story was shared on X by stock market trader Swapnil Kommawar, who said the incident happened in his hometown and involved his uncle. According to his post, the investment dates back to 1990.
Kommawar explained that his uncle had purchased four acres of land at a time when the area was not particularly developed. The price at that time was ₹15,000 per acre. This meant the entire purchase cost only ₹60,000.
In his post, he described the situation simply, writing: “A true story from my hometown! In 1990, my uncle bought 4 acres of land for 15,000 per acre. Total investment: 60,000.”
At the time, the land was located on the outskirts of a small town. Over the years, however, the region gradually developed. What was once a small town eventually grew and later even became a district, which significantly increased the value of nearby land.
Value rises after development
Decades later, the same land turned out to be extremely valuable as commercial development started expanding in the area.Kommawar said that two acres of the land were eventually sold to retail chain DMart for ₹25 crore.
He wrote in the post: “The town developed over the years. and now even a district. Now, DMart bought 2 acres of that land from him for 25 crores.”
After the deal, the money was reportedly placed in a fixed deposit. According to Kommawar, the interest earned from the deposit now provides a steady monthly income. “He has now put the 25 crores in a fixed deposit, and he gets 14.5 lakh per month in interest.”
Social media users react to the story
The post attracted many comments, with several users discussing the role of patience and long-term thinking when it comes to investments. One user wrote, “It takes lot of patience to hold it all those years when he would have been getting 10 lakhs, 25 lakhs or even a crore in between!! Good wishes to him.”
Another commenter suggested that luck also plays a part in such stories, saying, “No one expected land will be in boom when everyone bought 15-20 years back. That’s just luck.”
Some people also pointed out that development around roads or expanding towns often pushes up land prices dramatically. One comment read, “It's True. Land Values are correct then. Perhaps this Road is Near Main Road or Highway ,AWAY from Town. Now after decades, the TOWN extended to this Land.”
Questions about taxes
Not everyone in the comments section was convinced that the numbers would work exactly as described. A few users raised questions about tax obligations and interest calculations. One user commented, “There is something called capital gain tax , he couldn't deposit 25 crs in fd , ltcg tax is 20% with indexation..”
Another wrote, “Tax of 12.5 % on 25 crore plus surcharge. also .also around 30% tax on interest . lucky uncle.”
