Sometimes it is the unexpected conversations that leave a deep impact on us. Sometimes it is an honest interaction with a stranger or a candid exchange with cab/bike drivers. For a Jharkhand woman, it was the latter. She wrote an elaborate post on X, sharing her experience of a regular Rapido ride which turned out to be a life lesson on the true meaning of success. The woman began her post by sharing that she booked her ride for Rs 198 and soon after the journey started, she struck up a conversation with the driver.

Jharkhand woman shocked to learn Rapido rider’s income

When the woman asked how much he earns in a day, the Rapido driver revealed that he earns Rs 4000 - an answer that shocked the woman.

‘Does that mean you earn more than Rs 1 lakh per month?’ she asked to which the driver agreed, stating that his daily income falls somewhere between Rs 1,00,000 and Rs 1,20,000 per month. The woman then told the driver that he earns more than people working regular jobs and wanted to know why he chose to drive Rapido for a living.

The Rapido driver’s answer left the woman with a deep realisation. He told her that he was an engineer by profession at a respectable company but had to quit his job. ‘My salary was only ₹40,000,’ he said, adding that the amount made it difficult for him to manage his household expenses.

Rapido driver shares why he left engineering job

The woman still asked the reason why the driver resigned since people study hard for years to become engineers. The driver explained that taking care of his family was his utmost priority, and since he couldn’t meet his family’s needs, the only option for him was to choose a different path.

‘Now, I work in my own city, and I am happy with my earnings. I feel very good. I earn well, and I can also work while staying in my own city,’ he said.
