Pani-pooris are love. These crunchy balls of semolina filled with spicy mashed potatoes and flavourful, tangy-mint water hit home right from the first bite. Besides their lip-smacking taste that leaves you craving for just one more, pani pooris are also quite cheap, making them an affordable snack option. Most street vendors charge somewhere between Rs 20 and Rs 40 per plate, having 6-7 pooris. Keeping this thought in mind, a digital creator recently posted a video on Instagram, conducting a simple yet insightful experiment: whether a pani-poori seller earns more than a B.Com graduate.

Digital creator turns pani poori-waala

The video posted on Instagram by Cassy Pereira opened with the digital creator observing the process of making pani pooris before swapping roles to become the vendor himself for the day. He watched the onions being cut and the potatoes being peeled and mashed, before following the steps with his own hands.

The digital creator revealed that he was a little nervous in the beginning before serving the pani pooris to the customers. Ahead of that, he learnt how many pooris go in one plate from the vendor. After a few servings, Cassy Pereira got the hang of it and started selling pani pooris like a professional. The creator revealed that he was able to sell 120 pani pooris in just 1 hour, such is the demand for the desi snack.

Internet reacts to paani poori vendor’s income

A short break later, the digital creator resumed serving the pani pooris, and by the evening, the crowd started increasing, making his job a tad bit challenging. When his experimental shift was over, Cassy Pereira revealed that he was able to sell 80-100 plates of pani poori that day, with each plate costing Rs 30. Hence, his total earnings for the day were Rs 3000, which equals Rs 90,000 a month and Rs 10,80,00 in a year.

The internet had a field day reacting to the video. ‘Bro, did BBA for sure,’ joked a user. Another sarcastically asked the digital creator to become a Rapido driver for a day and see how much he can earn. ‘Bro is ragebaiting BCom graduates,’ read a fun remark. However, foodies seemed to be raving over how the video made them crave pani pooris.
