The recent case of the Rs 3 crore Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, damaged after crashing into a wall at New Delhi's five-star hotel Le Meridian, has drawn a blank. Authorities say neither the owner nor anyone present at the scene has filed a complaint.

Investigations can commence only once an official complaint is filed by either one of the aforementioned parties. According to a senior officer of the Parliament Street police station, although the incident happened on July 3, the police were informed only on July 7.

"That too, the person who called us claimed to be a friend of the owner. Neither the owner nor anyone present at the time of the incident has called us," said the official, adding, "We believe the owner is not in the country."

Though registered in the name of Abid Fateh Mohammad Khatri, sources say that the car was in the charge of Delhi-based Big Boy Toyz, sellers of pre-owned luxury cars. While Le Meridien says that Big Boy Toyz had contacted them, they have now written directly to the owner.
