From Delhi job to village dairy success
As per the post, the business was built after the man left his Delhi job behind and moved to the family’s village. Now, he procures milk directly from nearby villages at around Rs 40 per litre, with nearly 400 litres being supplied daily to 4 to 5 sweet-shop vendors in the city at Rs 65 per litre.Additionally, Ankit Pandey’s uncle sells the milk to about 50 regular local customers, while paneer, curd, lassi and matha are also prepared and sold as value-added products. Through these operations, he generates a daily revenue of approximately Rs 33,250, translating to nearly Rs 9.97 lakh a month and around Rs 1.2 crore annually.
Milk sales drive revenue and profits
What’s more, monthly expenses are estimated at Rs 6.72 lakh, including Rs 6 lakh for milk procurement, Rs 30,000 for transportation, Rs 15,000 for shop rent, Rs 20,000 for 2 helpers, Rs 2,000 for electricity and Rs 5,000 in miscellaneous costs.Based on these figures, Ankit Pandey’s uncle produces a monthly profit of around Rs 3.25 lakh, taking the estimated annual profit to nearly Rs 39 lakh. So, from earning Rs 40,000 a month in Delhi, the businessman has built a village-based dairy operation with an annual revenue of around Rs 1.2 crore.
Final takeaway
The model has been driven by regular local demand, direct sourcing, and the addition of products such as paneer and curd, rather than a large-scale startup investment. As per Ankit Pandey, his uncle’s story is a reminder that sometimes a good business opportunity is right in front of us.
