Strolling along Mumbai beach, some common sights you may encounter include street food vendors selling lip-smacking snacks, balloon-sellers carrying colourful balloons, families enjoying the sea breeze, children playing, couples watching the sunset, and joggers weaving through the crowd. But don’t be surprised if you happen to witness a man, sitting on the sand holding a placard which reads in Hindi, ‘Agar kisiko apna dukh sunana hai toh mai sun sakta huun’, which translates to ‘If anyone wants to talk about their pain, I can listen to them’.

Pain into paid service

Recently, a user posted a video of the unusual service on social media, which even grabbed the attention of Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma. He re-shared it on his own X-handle. As per the clip, the man, identified as Prithvi Raj Bohra, has found a way to turn listening into a business, offering people a chance to share their worries in exchange for a small fee.

Prithvi Raj Bohra, having a background in psychology and philosophy, has meticulously crafted a standard fee structure for the service. People coming to him with everyday issues have to pay him Rs 250; those dealing with serious concerns will have to give him Rs 500, and individuals with more complex problems can receive a ‘cry together’ session by paying Bohra Rs 1,000. Bohra explained that people come to him to unburden themselves, while he gives them a patient ear without judgment.
