Starting your own business is not for the weak-hearted. It takes years of planning and research, followed by investing a good sum of money to establish the project, and still there’s the risk of financial loss or total failure. Bengaluru couple and entrepreneur Kushal Reddy and Chahak Jain had a similar story. When in 2024, they opened a cloud kitchen; the business witnessed a Rs 4 crore loss due to high commissions charged by food delivery platforms, advertising expenses, and low orders. But they turned their failure into success by never giving up.

A Rs 4 crore cloud kitchen loss

According to a report by the Navbharat Times, Kushal is a Bengaluru resident, formerly working as an HR professional. Chahak, a graduate in interaction design, is from Jaipur who moved to Bengaluru. The two met around 2023-24 and decided to open their cloud kitchen, seeing the lack of fresh fried food in the market.

After their cloud shut down, the Bengaluru couple borrowed some monet from their parents, purchased a truck and remodelled it as a mobile kitchen. At the same time, Kushal and Chahak started sharing their journey by creating a series on Instagram called ‘How to Start a Food Truck in Bengaluru.’

From Rs 4 crore loss to Rs 2 crore in 10 months

Their videos went viral in no time, and by the time the duo launched the food truck, Kried, in JP Nagar in September 2025, it attracted hundreds of foodies on its first day. Kushal and Chahak produced Rs 30,000 in sales in the first 3 days, and their reels also caught attention on social media.

Kried specialises in a diverse range of juicy, crispy burgers, fresh buns, in-house sausages and marinades. The menu also comprises chicken popcorn, strips and fries. The food truck, operating 6 days a week for 4 hours, attracted approximately 350 to 450 customers every day, with March sales indicating Rs 1 lakh in sales, reported Navbharat Times.

Bengaluru couple’s plans next

From September 2025 to July 2026, Kried recorded Rs 2 crore revenue. The food truck now has a team of 13 employees, with the Bengaluru couple hoping to launch a new central kitchen. Kushal and Chahak also intend to open a fast-casual restaurant, with 2-3 new outlets by 2027.
