The Zerodha co-founder recently shared on X that he had lost a fitness bet to Rohit Agarwala, a Content and Media Strategist at the company. However, Kamath made it clear that this was one defeat he was happy to accept.
“I lost a fitness bet, and I’m happy I lost this one,” Kamath wrote while sharing a screenshot of Agarwala’s Instagram post.
Employee wins challenge after losing 30 kg
Explaining the story behind the bet, Agarwala revealed on Instagram that he had received ₹2.5 lakh from Kamath after successfully completing a health challenge. “My biggest flex? That I won ₹2.5L from @nithinkamath on a health challenge,” Agarwala wrote.But according to him, the cash reward was never the main achievement. The bigger gain was the improvement in his health and fitness.
“The money is secondary. It’s the push to take care of my health and lose 30kgs in the last year that has been the most rewarding. I don’t think any other place can give you this kind of an opportunity @zerodhaonline,” he added.
Agarwala later shared in a separate Instagram video that his weight dropped from 104 kg to 75 kg over the course of a year. The transformation, he said, came as a result of staying committed to the challenge and focusing on his health.
Kamath celebrates the outcome
While Kamath ended up paying the bet amount, he appeared more impressed by the result than concerned about the money. By reposting Agarwala’s achievement, he highlighted the importance of health and fitness over the financial aspect of the wager.The story also drew attention because it reflected a workplace culture where personal well-being was encouraged alongside professional growth.
