'RRR' team in celebration mode: SS Rajamouli says he 'never dreamt of an Oscar', NTR Jr & Ram Charan congratulate MM Keeravani

'RRR' has officially entered the race for the Academy Awards.
Director SS Rajamouli's magnum opus 'RRR' has made it to the official Oscars nomination.

'Naatu Naatu is composed by MM Keeravani, and singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava lend their voices to high energy rendition. Prem Rakshith has choreographed the song, with lyrics by Chandrabose.

The film-maker took to Twitter to pen a long appreciation note. He said that he is doing 'Naatu Naatu' more vigorously than the movie's actors Ram Charan and NTR Jr.


His tweet read, "My peddanna got an Oscar nomination for his song in my film ... I can't ask for more ... I am currently doing Naatu Naatu more vigorously than Tarak and Charan...Chandra Bose garu.. Congratulations... Oscar stage meedha mana paata...thank you...Prem master, your contribution to the song is invaluable... my personal Oscar goes to you..Bhairava's BGM is what inspired me to go ahead with ava's Naatu Naatu, after hesitating for a long time.Love you Bhairi babu..baland Super energetic vocals by Rahul and Bhairava enhanced the song.."


"The main reason is Tarak and Charan's sync and style. They danced their way into the hearts of audiences across the globe...Sorry for the torture. But I will not hesitate to do it again...I never dreamt of an Oscar, even in my wildest dream! It is the fans of Naatu Naatu and RRR who believed in it. They instilled the idea in our minds and pushed us forward," the post further reads.

In another post, the 'Baahubali' helmer also congratulated the makers of 'All That Breathes' and 'The Elephant Whisperers'. "This is the first time India has had so many nominations. I believe this is just the beginning," he wrote in his tweet.

Besides 'RRR', the documentary 'All That Breathes' and the Tamil short documentary 'The Elephant Whisperers' also bagged Oscar 2023 nominations in 'Documentary Feature Film' and 'Documentary Short Film' categories, respectively.


To mark this occasion, Ram Charan took to Twitter to share his reaction.

Calling it a proud moment for India and the 'RRR' team, the actor wrote, "What brilliant news! Truly an honour to see 'Naatu Naatu' nominated for the Oscars. Another very proud moment for us & India. Well deserved Keeravaani, Rajamouli, NTR Jr and the entire team of 'RRR'. All love."

'RRR' lyricist Chandrabose expressed his happiness and gratitude as 'Naatu Naatu' bagged an Oscar nomination.

He told the news agency ANI, "I will not let the success get to my head. Seeing the RRR casting list on the Oscar list feels very great and proud. I never dreamt of this much height in my wildest dreams. Thanks to Keeravani for giving songs and Rajamouli."

In his Twitter post, NTR Jr congratulated Keeravaani and Chandrabose on achieving another well-deserved and monumental feat. "This song will forever hold a special place in my heart," he added.


Music composer Keeravaani congratulated the entire 'RRR' team. "Big hugs to all," he wrote.


'Naatu Naatu' singer Rahul Sipligunj expressed his excitement on social media.


The movie has had a great winning streak this year with one Golden Globe Award for 'Naatu Naatu' and two Critics Choice Awards for the famous track and the Best Feature Film In a Foreign Language category.

'RRR' is a fictional story based on the lives of two Telugu freedom fighters - Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, played by Ram Charan and NTR Jr, respectively. The movie stars Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran. It collected over Rs 1,200 crore worldwide.

'Jai Ho' from the 2008 British film 'Slumdog Millionaire', directed by Danny Boyle, was the first Hindi song to win an Academy Award in the Best Original Score and Original Song categories. It was composed by AR Rahman and penned by Gulzar.

After nominations for 23 categories of the 95th Academy Awards, the Oscars ceremony will take place on March 12.
