RPG boss shares rare video of Lata Mangeshkar & Shivkumar Sharma rehearsing song from 'Lamhe' with Hariprasad Chaurasia

RPG Enterprises Chairman Harsh Goenka kept his mid-week blues at bay with help from some old songs.

This week was all about nostalgia for the top boss. He also came across a rare video from the early '90s and shared it with 1.7 million followers on Twitter.

The 51-second-long video showed later singer Lata Mangeshkar and late composer Shivkumar Sharma rehearsing with music director Hariprasad Chaurasia for the 1991 film 'Lamhe'.


In the video, the trio could be seen singing along the lyrics of the famous song 'Chudiyan Khanak Gayeen', originally picturising Sridevi, at a recording studio.

The 64-year-old business tycoon said that he has had the fortune to enjoy the music of many singing legends at the recording studio, thanks to his connections at Saregama (HMV), formerly known as The Gramophone Company Of India Ltd.

Saregama India Limited and HMV are owned by RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group of companies. The RPSG Group Chairperson is the businessman's younger brother.

His post was retweeted over 125 times and liked by more than 900 people.


On the santoor maestro's sudden demise, Goenka was one of the few people to lead tributes for Sharma. Having met him personally, he said that the late musician was charismatic, who was capable of drawing on the "canvas of space and silence with the tune, tone, notes and rhythmic lilt very beautifully."

"He was known as the ‘Sultan of strings’ and was synonymous with santoor, earlier a folk instrument," he wrote alongside a picture of himself with the late musician and veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan.

Goenka, who loves interacting with his followers on the micro-blogging platform, often shares insightful thoughts and rare glimpses with his fans.
