Role reversal! Deepika Padukone is getting paid more than her male co-stars in 'Padmavati'
In a first for Bollywood, an actress will be seen getting paid more than her male superstars in the film.

Deepika Padukone, who plays the female lead in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming flick, ' Padmavati', has been able to reverse the wage-gap, and is being paid more than her male co-stars, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.

The historic change is even more significant because all the three actors are superstars in their own right.

Padukone is reportedly getting Rs 13 crore for the film, while both Singh and Kapoor are making Rs 10 crore each.

'Padmavati' tells the story of Alauddin Khilji, the medieval-era Delhi ruler, who was infatuated with Rajput queen Padmavati, the role essayed by Padukone.

Bhansali was reportedly clear that the film belongs to Padukone, and the remuneration shows that.

This comes as a welcome change at the time, when not just Bollywood but Hollywood too has been debating the wage gap crisis.
