Rohan-Aparna's wedding was an intimate affair; Infy co-founders, Prakash Padukone bless couple

The couple had a traditional South Indian wedding that was solemnised in the day. A reception followed in the evening at a five-star hotel in Bengaluru. Rohan Murty kept it simple in a beige kurta while his bride wore a white, floral-printed lehenga with a heavy neck-piece.

Cupid struck three years ago when the couple had met through a common friend. It was only earlier this year they made their relationship public when they decided to make things official. Murty has a PhD in Computer Science from Harvard University, and is a Junior Fellow at the Society of Fellows of the University.

Krishnan, who lives in Bengaluru, did her initial schooling in India and later got a scholarship to the United World College in Canada. An economics graduate from the Dartmouth College in the US, she has worked at McKinsey and Sequoia Capital in India. Her mother, Savithri Krishnan, is a retired SBI employee, while her father KR Krishnan served in the Indian Navy as a Commander.

Akshata Murty (in pic) flew down from London, along with her kids Anoushka and Krishna, to join her brother's nuptials celebrations. The 39-year-old is married to her Stanford classmate and third-generation British Indian, Rishi Sunak who is also a part of England PM Boris Johnson's cabinet.

Like her brother, Akshata, too, has successfully managed to keep a low profile. After completing her schooling in Bangalore and college in Los Angeles, she had a few corporate stints including Deloitte and Unilever before pursuing an MBA from Stanford.

Mr & Mrs Murthy played the gracious hosts for the evening. Known for their simplicity and humility, the couple personally introduced guests to the newest member of their family. Dressed in silk, the couple posed with the newlyweds.

In previous separate interactions, the couple has reiterated that they wanted their children to have a regular upbringing, minus any starry airs that often came with those growing up in privileged circumstances.

Rohan Murty's wedding gave the Infosys family - past and present - a good reason to catch up. Co-founder K Dinesh, and former CFO Mavinakere Ranganath, were some of the Infoscions who took time off from their daily schedule to attend the season's most happening wedding.

In April 2013, Murty Jr was appointed as Executive Assistant when his father decided to return as Chief Executive Officer. Rumour mills had then gone into overdrive stating that it was being seen as a move to groom him for the big role. Murty Jr, however, decided to step down in a year's time.

On Monday, all roads in Bengaluru led to Rohan Murty's wedding. IT czars, business honchos and newsmakers were spotted as the couple took their vows. Prakash Padukone, who is known to the family, was also in attendance. The 64-year-old badminton champion looked dapper in a pink shirt, paired with black trousers.

The wedding gave the Infosys alumni to bond over food and laughter. Co-founders Nandan Nilekani, ‘Kris’ Gopalakrishnan (seen in pic: right), SD Shibulal (seen in pic: left), and K Dinesh, who have seen Rohan Murty as a child, were among those in attendance. Present CEO Salil Parekh, and former board members TV Mohandas Pai (seen in pic: centre) and V Balakrishnan were also spotted at the reception. Former CFO Mavinakere Ranganath also blessed the elegantly-dressed couple.

Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, who is close to the family, was seen attending the traditional South Indian wedding rituals in the day. The Biocon chairperson, along with her husband and octogenarian mother, blessed the couple. Shaw, seen in a pink and grey saree, also tweeted a picture along with the newlyweds. On her Twitter, she wrote, "With the newly weds Rohan & Aparna Murthy. My mother and husband join me in wishing them all the happiness in their journey of togetherness".

Away from food and chatter, there was also music for the soul. Popular Carnatic vocalist Bombay Jayashree had the audience in rapture with her magical performance.
